We are the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.
Although we wish we could enrol every young person that would like to become a member of 1st Sedgley, we do have limited spaces, so this is, unfortunately, not possible. Our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure as many young people as possible can join us.
There are lots of ways you can get more involved with Scouts. From helping out occasionally on a family rota or playing a vital role behind the scenes to stepping up as a leader, our volunteering activities are as varied as you.
We’re talking tidy uppers and tea makers, session planners and Zoom navigators, fundraisers and treasurers, and all-round team players to support our young people.
We have waiting lists for every section, so we encourage you to reach out to other local groups that will have a shorter waiting list. They can be found here. We now hold a single waiting list for all our sections, so please only add your young person once. Multiple entries will be removed automatically, with only the most recent entry kept on our waiting list (which means they will get pushed down the waiting list if you add them again). If the young person ages out of a section while on our waiting list, they will be considered for the older sections(s) when possible.
Fill in the form (only fill in the form once; the form is the same for all sections, and records are held together.)
Current young person’s age between birth – 4 years old
The Squirrels Section is brand new and will soon be where most young people start their scouting journey with us from; however, we are still setting this section up. You may join the waiting list below, but please note until we are active, we cannot provide an estimated length of the waiting list. We will prioritise squirrel-age members who are currently waiting for a place in Beavers.
(There is no promise of admission into the dray due to expected over demand)
Current young person’s age between 5 – 6 years old
The Beaver Section is where most young people start their scouting journey with us from; however, we are currently oversubscribed. To account for that, we have a ‘waiting list’ that you can join. Once on our waiting list, the young person will be in-line to join our section once we have availability.
(There is no promise of admission into the colony due to over demand)
Current young person’s age between 7 – 8 years old
(There is no promise of admission into the pack due to over demand)Cubs
Although most members join in Beavers, some do join us in Cubs. Cubs holds a ‘waiting list’ that prospective members can be added to and to join the section when a space becomes available.
Current young person’s age between 9 – 11 years old
Current waiting list length: We have extremely limited opportunities to move young people into our troop due to the exceptionally high retention of young people from Cubs. Our waiting list is currently at 2+ years. We highly recommend looking for other scout groups here. (There is absolutely no promise of admission into the troop due to over demand)Scouts
Although most members join in Beavers, some do join us in Scouts. Scouts hold a ‘waiting list’ that prospective members can be added to and join the section when a space becomes available.
Current young person’s age between 12 – 17 years old
